Baikal Dog-sledding

Dog-sledding Baikal
Leader of the sled - Balu

Dog-sledding at Baikal lake is one of the most exciting activities you can do in winter. Sitting or controlling the sled of 8 or 10 dogs which pull you through the frozen ice and dazzling snow. You don’t breath – you swallow the frozen air and your eyelashes are grown with beautiful frost. Your face might burn because of frost and your hands may be numb of holding the back of sled but you don’t notice it, as emotions overfill you. Is that the moment when you feel nothing but happiness.

I have very good friends who own Baikal Dog-sledding center - the only center like this on the Far-east of Russia. This place is unique. Not only because it's location at Baikal shore, but because of each of husky dogs and wonderful people who train them and take care of this farm. I am very lucky to know them in person and I can say that it is a hard work but it is worth it. Love to animals is not enough to handle it, You need to be so much passionate about whole idea of dog-sledding, so much into it. It can’t be just work, it must be the lifestyle. And it became this for everyone who takes care of these dogs – Natasha, Oleg, Kolya, and some other instructors who are at the Baikal dog-sledding center now. Feeding, cleaning, training is behind the eyes of tourists and travelers (except they come to a multi-days expedition with the dogs). And summer is also time when the dogs have to be trained. Then it comes to using the sled over the grass or cani-cross or dog-trekking at Baikal, which is also much-much fun!!!
